Cortagen is a synthetic tetrapeptide—Ala-Glu-Asp-Pro (AEDP)—originally derived from “Cortexin,” a complex bovine brain extract. It is classified as a peptide bioregulator, a group of compounds popularized by Professor Vladimir Khavinson.
Unlike many peptides that act on receptors, Cortagen is believed to work at the epigenetic level, interacting directly with DNA to modulate gene expression related to the nervous system.
Research and clinical data suggest Cortagen’s primary role is the restoration of the central and peripheral nervous systems.
